Say you are a semi ok ball striker...you hit 6/18 greens (all of which you 2 putt) and the other 12 you are within 30m off for GIR shots. Of those 12, if you get up and down 25% of the time you shoot 9 over, UD = 50% you shoot 6 over, UD = 75% you shoot 3 over. There is a direct correlation between short game and scoring, much more so than for the long game. There is no difference on the score card between: drove it up the middle, 7 iron on, 2 putts = 4.
