Homer clearly states that his Vector Symbols, in 2-C-1, indicate the direction of a Force. That symbol would then indicate the direction of the ball. You are correct, vectors unlike scalers have a direction. I don’t think Homer was trying to explain that difference to the reader -nor does it change the outcome of occurrence if the legend was modified. Perhaps the “I” should have been label Inertia Unrested. Either way Newton’s Laws prevail, impact occurs and the ball is launched. How does this 'mistake' change anything?
